Xian Zhao, MD

Xian "Sam" Zhao, MD, is a physician in the Division of Emergency Medicine at Children's National Hospital. Dr. Zhao is the associate program director for intern selection and transition to residency as well as the co-director of resident and medical student education in the Division of Emergency Medicine.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and his master's degree in education from the George Washington University. He completed residency training at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital and fellowship training at Children's National. Dr. Zhao's professional interests include curriculum development and assessment of learners.

Outside of work, he enjoys running, hiking, and enjoying the great outdoors with his dog, Atlas. He also sings with the Washington Chorus.
