Biografía
Patricia Kapunan, MD, MPH, FAAP, is a teen health expert who is double board certified in pediatrics and adolescent medicine. She earned her bachelor of science at McGill University and received her medical and graduate public health degrees from Tufts University’s dual degree program.
During her clinical research fellowship at Harvard Medical School, she focused on children’s access to mental health services. Dr. Kapunan completed pediatric residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and adolescent medicine fellowship at San Antonio Military Medical Center.
In 2018, after 12 years of active-duty service, Dr. Kapunan joined the Adolescent Medicine department at Children’s National Hospital as medical director of adolescent medicine. From 2022-2024, she served as the chief medical officer for Montgomery County Public Schools, the largest school system in Maryland. She was thrilled to join the CNPA team in 2024.
Dr. Kapunan is passionate about promoting health in all spaces in which children and youth grow and thrive. Her interests include health policy, school health, adolescents with chronic or complex health care needs and youth advocacy.
