Biografía
Pascal Amedro, MD, PhD, is the inaugural Dunn Family Endowed Professor of Cardiac Research at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., and professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. He is a pediatric and congenital cardiologist at Children’s National and remains affiliated with the University of Bordeaux in France as professor of Pediatrics, where he continues to contribute to international collaborative research programs.
Dr. Amedro is an internationally recognized expert in pediatric cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) and exercise physiology in children with chronic diseases. His research has contributed to the development and validation of pediatric normative values and Z-score–based interpretation frameworks, improving the precision and clinical applicability of functional assessment in growing children and adolescents.
He leads international clinical research initiatives aimed at advancing prevention, rehabilitation and quality of life in children, adolescents and young adults living with chronic diseases. Dr. Amedro coordinates QUALIREHAB, an innovative hybrid (center- and home-based) cardiac rehabilitation and preventive cardiology program. QUALIREHAB addresses physical deconditioning across pediatric chronic conditions, including congenital heart disease, pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease and childhood cancer survivorship.
Previously, he served as division head of Pediatrics at Montpellier University Hospital in France, where he established and directed pediatric clinical and research infrastructures and led numerous multicenter studies supported by national and European funding agencies.
Serving on international scientific boards and advisory committees, Dr. Amedro is committed to advancing collaborative research and implementing innovative, patient-centered healthcare solutions worldwide.
