Michael Tsifansky, MD, FAAP, earned his undergraduate degree in biological sciences from the University of Chicago and his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in Israel. He completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Tsifansky then continued his training with fellowships in pediatric pulmonology and critical care medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass., and in pediatric cardiac critical care medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Tsifansky is board certified in pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology and pediatric critical care medicine. He is a member of the attending staff in the Children's National Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and in the Division of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine. He is also Director of the Advanced Lung Disease and Transplant Program at Children's National Hospital. His specialties and interests include pulmonary hypertension, lung transplantation, critical care ultrasonography, cardiac critical care, cardiorespiratory failure and interstitial lung disease.

Dr. Tsifansky is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and he has important research experience, having published several papers in peer-reviewed journals as well as contributed chapters and co-edited textbooks in his specialty. He is recognized as a skilled teacher and has been invited as lecturer to multiple national and international forums. He is fluent in English, French, Russian and Hebrew.
