Biografía

Hani Fanous, MD, is a clinical instructor of pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He earned his medical degree from the Suez Canal University in Egypt. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Children’s National Hospital and his pediatric pulmonology fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System. His clinical interests are in cystic fibrosis (CF), primary cellular dyskinesia and rare lung disease.

Dr. Fanous is grant funded by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation investigating the Pulmonary Transcriptomic Signature in Cystic Fibrosis and CFTR Modulator Therapy. He has completed multiple research projects characterizing phenotypic expression of rare Hispanic cystic fibrosis mutations and comparative clinical research in phenotypical diversity among siblings with the same CF genetic mutations. Dr. Fanous completed clinical research investigating healthcare disparities influencing lung function and mental health outcomes creating a gap between Hispanic and non-Hispanic patients with cystic fibrosis. He also conducted foundational research exploring how CFTR works in certain immune cells in people with Cystic Fibrosis. His work also examined how specific immune responses interact with Pseudomonas infections.
